Bookish Reflections – June 2019

A monthly round up of all things bookish at Sammi Loves Books…It’s my attempt at becoming more accountable in my reading and reviewing habits…

In a nutshell

Three books read and reviewed this month.  Not bad, but not the best either.  I have one more book waiting to be reviewed (Death at Gallow’s Green by Robin Paige) but it’s historical fiction and so I will have to wait until August to post that review.  For those that don’t know, August is Historical Fiction Month at Sammi Loves Books.  But, before that, we have Indie Only Month in July.  I’m just whittling down my final choices for each list, but as always, suggestions and recommendations are always welcome.

Any historical fiction and / or indie writers or poets who would like to be interviewed and / or have their book reviewed or promoted on this site during either month, please do get in touch at

  1. Good for you for staying on track, and even being ahead on your Goodreads goal! I have been struggling to stay on target or be only one book behind on my Goodreads goal, and just this morning I pulled ahead to “one book ahead”. When I finished my book last night, I sat in front of my to-read shelves and could not agree with myself at all on which book to read next — suddenly they all looked too hard or too boring or something in between, how did that happen? Argh! But maybe that was just because it was late, and I normally don’t like to start another fiction book until I’ve reviewed the previous one. So hopefully something will jump out at me more enthusiastically this evening.

  2. You make me feel exhausted, Sammi. You also remind me I need to update at Goodreads. I am reading loads, just not the regular published stuff. And a non-fiction that I’m sure is treble the size of a Bible.
